File Import Definitions For Check Issues

File import definitions specify the structure and format of the files being imported for positive pay purposes. They detail how the data within the files should be organized and presented to ensure accurate comparison and verification. This file definition will help when importing large files of checks.

File import definitions can be delimited or fixed. A delimited file is a flat text file consisting of data items separated by a specific character. A fixed file is a text file consisting of data that has specific lengths and positions.

Log In to your Business Online Banking. Go to Account Services and click on Positive Pay.

Select the Import Issues tab then click Add a file definition.

Complete the Description section:

Complete the Characteristics section then click Complete and then Add File Format.

Optional: Select the Default Field Value options you want applied to all issues in the import file: ABA/TRC, Account, Issue Type, Issue Action.

Field Properties: Enter the numeric order of the Position Number fields listed below as they would appear in your import file. For example, if the first field in your file is "ABA/TRC", and the second field is "Account" you would list the fields as position number "1" and position number "2" in import. Click Complete and then Add File Format.
