Installation Steps

Installation Overview

This section provides general information on the installation process for the required scanner specific drivers and the required WebScan application. The specific options may change, depending on the type of scanner you are installing. For purposes of our example, we will be using the Digital Check TellerScan drivers.

The following slides will depict three different downloads. All three softwares are crucial to installing your Remote Deposit Scanner and everything working properly.

For reference, a scanner driver is software that enables your computer to communicate with and control a physical scanner. Webscan, on the other hand, is a feature, often integrated with a printer's embedded web server, that allows scanning directly from a web browser.

Uninstalling Previous Scanner Drivers

If you previously had a check scanner connected to your computer you will need to uninstall the drivers for that scanner to ensure you are able to seamlessly install your new drivers. Depending on your company's policy, you may need assistance from your company's IT team or Administrator to complete this process.

If you do not have other scanner drivers installed, skip to the Installing the Scanner Driver page.

Click on the magnifying glass on your computer's Start Menu to open the Search bar (typically on the lower-left corner of your screen)

With the Search bar open, type the letters “cmd” and press ‘Enter’ to initiate your computer's Command Prompt.

In Command Prompt, type the letters “te” and press ‘Tab’ on your keyboard to search for the “TellerScanDriver” file ending in .exe. Continue to press ‘Tab’ until the correct file is located then continue to the next step.

Uninstalling Previous Scanner Drivers

Enter a space followed by "/uninstall" and press ‘Enter.’
Note: This will prompt multiple black screens to open while the drivers are being uninstalled and is normal.

Ask your company's administrator to go to Device Manager on your computer and verify that the device has been removed.

In most instances, the device may appear under ‘Other devices’ or ‘USB devices’ sections within the Device Manager menu.

Once the previous drivers are uninstalled, you can proceed with installing your new drivers and WebScan software.

Please DO NOT plug the scanner USB into the computer until you have completed all steps outlined in this guide.

Installing the Scanner Driver

Once successfully logged in, select the Help menu drop down from the main navigation.

Hover your cursor over Download Scanner Drivers. Only drivers for your requested scanner type(s) will be available for download. Click on the driver for your scanner.

Log in to the Remote Deposit Capture Program. See the chapter on “Logging-In” for more information.

The program download will show at the bottom left of your screen. Once the download is complete select the arrow and choose Open.

Installing the Scanner Driver

Follow the flow to complete the set up of the Scanner Driver:

Welcome to Driver Set Up Wizard. Select Next.
Ready to Install. Select Install.
Installing and enabling device progress bar.
Completing the Setup. Select Finish.

Depending on your User Account Control (UAC) setting you may be prompted to allow the TellerScan driver install application to make changes to your device. Select Yes to continue.

Install WebScan Utility

In the Help menu navigation drop down, select Download WebScan.

The program download will show at the bottom left of your screen or in File Explorer. Once the download is complete, select the arrow and choose Open.

Depending on your User Account Control (UAC) setting, you may be prompted to allow the WebScan install application to make changes to your device. Select Yes to continue.

Installation:

Welcome to WebScan setup. Select Next.
Default folder is listed or Browse to select a different folder. Click Next to continue.
Confirm installation and click Next.

Select Close to complete the Installation.

When updates are available, the system prompts you with a message indicating you should install updates.

Using and Updating WebScan

To install the latest updates, you must be logged on as a Windows administrator or manually select WebScan to Run as Administrator.
If you do not have the appropriate permissions, the updates will not run and the system will prompt you with a message to contact your System administrator.

Once WebScan install is complete, you will see the WebScan Icon on your desktop and in the lower right hand corner of your desktop in the System Tray.

Microsoft Visual C++ Installation

If you do not have Microsoft Visual C++ installed, you will be required to install it prior to continuing with WebScan.

Once the Microsoft Visual C++ install is completed, please relaunch the WebScan download by going back to the Help Menu and choosing Download WebScan again.
